Favorite Things

Welcome to the world of my favorite things! One of the biggest things I enjoy is music! My music tastes are a little different than the average Joe, cause I'm ok with a lot of music as long as it sounds good to my ears. This means I will focus more on the instrumental sound of the harmonies, melodies, and sound quality more than the lyrics themselves (though I do love when lyrics are play on words and intricately designed).

Wordless Electro

My first collection of music is Wordless Electro. This playlist is now 1,300+ songs and it all started back when I had first gotten Spotify and really liked a lot of background music of some Minecraft videos I watched at the time. Take a listen!

Adam Young

Another bunch of music I thoroughly enjoy is all from my favorite artist, Adam Young. You may not recognize this name, but this is the maker behind Owl City's Fireflies, along with a whole lot of other projects he's done throughout his music career. One of the biggest reasons I love his music is not only the sound and lyrics, but also comes from the variety of tracks he's made throughout the years. Some of these projects besides his most famous one, Owl City, includes Sky Sailing, Port Blue, Adam Young Scores, Color Therapy, along with a bunch of unreleased tracks he's posted on his blog. I've made two playlists of some of his songs that are hard to come by - the first has lyrics and the second is mostly Port Blue or instrumental tracks:

Instrumental

Minecraft

Aside from music, I also love video games enough that I eventually want to program them. My favorite, most inspiring, most impactful video game is Minecraft. Growing up with the game, I hadn't realized how different it compares to a lot of games out there. Now I basically treat it as an enjoyable means of making sculpture-like creations in a video game setting. From a game design perspective, I've really appreciated the simplicity and creative aspects that makes the game very unique among games that require a lot of skill or where the gameplay is predetermined. Here's some of the neat creations I've made throughout my years of playing:

Self Mastery

Just like in Minecraft or any game where you learn to become more familiar with the gameplay elements, limitations, and ways you can best interact with the two, I've learned that real life has similar factors to overcome, and yet you only have one shot to get it right. One of my biggest joys is to learn how to live a life I'd be happy with after I die. I've learned through having a personal relationship with Jesus that this is not an easy thing but it is instead a discipline of rejecting desires of evil and submitting yourself to doing what is right. In the end, I know that living a life of discipline and self mastery is one of joy through the struggle because God is close by and promises even greater things after this struggle is all over.
